Need a Study Break?
We’ve all been working so hard on completing our last few assignments and projects and preparing for final exams to finish off this strange semester. With only one week left, be sure to take care of yourself. We know it’s a huge bummer that we can’t be enjoying pancakes from Chancellor Jim or free coffee from The Cabin, but there are still a few things you can do to de-stress and rejuvenate at home….
Cook a Yummy Meal or Make a Snack
When your brain is fried and you just can’t focus, sometimes food and energy is just what you need! And you know…the munchies are a constant thing during quarantine. Try something small like an apple with peanut butter or chips and dip. It doesn’t have to be fancy. If you need something more creative, grab one of those Pinterest ideas you’ve never tried. Maybe it’s time for a meal! In that case you could fire up the grill since the sun is starting to SHINE and cook up your choice of meat and/or veggies. A step outside might be nice anyway!
Do a Workout
Fitness can be the best medicine for an anxious mind. If your mind is racing and you just need to get out all your energy, try one of those quick workouts you’ve seen all over Tik Tok or Instagram. Sometimes a walk around the neighborhood will even do the trick. It’ll be a nice break from staring at your screen. If you have a dog, bring them along! A slow yoga flow or stretch can be the perfect calming session you need to get back on track as well. There are so many options!
Take a Nap
Quarantine seems like the time we would get the most sleep, but for some of us that’s not true when we stay up until the late hours of the night binging Outer Banks or the next popular Netflix show. Give yourself some healthy sleep to restore your body and mind. Just 20 minutes can do wonders.
Do Something Crafty
Try something creative to free your mind of all the academics. You could make some decor for your room or make a little present for a friend when you reunite. Keep it simple like a heartfelt card and a friendship bracelet, or go crazy with something bigger like painting a canvas or tie dyeing some clothes. Rearrange your room even! A new setup could be refreshing and feel like a brand new room.
Cross Something Off Your To-Do List
Maybe it’s laundry or the dishes, but we all procrastinate that one thing around the house. Take just 15 minutes to do something productive and make you feel like you’re getting something done. It’ll get you out of your chair, bed, or wherever you do your studying. Promote some blood flow!
Reach Out to a Friend
If you’re missing your pals, tell them! We all love to hear that we’re loved and appreciated. It’ll make you feel good as well as your friends. Send a text, make a call, or go the old fashioned way and write a letter. When we’re all social distancing at a time like this, it’s important to remember the people that matter most.
Hopefully you can find something to take your mind off school for just a little bit before heading into finals week. Stay healthy and strong, Blugolds. We’re on the final stretch!
