Staying safe and spirited for #UWECHC2020

Homecoming is a traditional occasion to celebrate the return of alumni and other members of the Blugold family. Although this year will look a little different, there are still so many activities to participate in and show your school spirit. Here we will give you a quick look at fun things you can do while still being safe.
Get Active
First off, there are so many events to get your body movin’ while still having fun! Zumba will be held at Simpson Field on September 28th at 6:30PM and September 30th at 7PM. There will also be a Dance event held at Simpson Field on October 3rd at 7PM. Invite your friends and get groovy!
If you like a little more competition, sign up for the free virtual RecUnite activity involving your choice of a run, bike, paddle, or combination of the three. Register online to receive a printable race bib that you can post a photo with to be entered into a raffle for Scheels gift cards. Submit your photos on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram with #RecUnite2020 or email them to recreation@uwec.edu The event runs from September 28th through October 3rd.
Get Creative
Use your talent and creativity to paint the Davies windows on September 27th from 10:30AM-1PM. Spread the school spirit for all to see! Please note that you’ll need to sign up for this in advance. Check out details HERE.
There will also be a Blu Fan Art Competition run through the University Activities Commission (UAC). You can submit your artwork to the UAC Instagram or email (uac@uwec.edu) from September 29th to October 1st. Your peers will vote for their favorite, and the top 3 will win Spirit Points.
Spirit Points
Student organizations that participate in the Homecoming events and/or the Royalty Competition have the opportunity to win what are called Spirit Points. Here are all the ways an organization can win these points:
- Attend the Homecoming Info Sessions
- Win the Window Painting Competition
- Find the Medallion each day
- Participate in Social Media Competitions (Blu’s TikTok Challenge and the Blu Fan Art Competition)
- Win Royalty
- Participate in Alumni vs. Student Trivia
- Participate in RecUnite (each person who participates in RecUnite will win points for their team)
Whoever wins 1st Place will receive $200 for their organization. 2nd Place wins $150 and 3rd Place wins $100.
You can find more information about Homecoming events on the UAC social media pages (Instagram: uwec.uac and Facebook: UWEC University Activities Commission).
Show Your Knowledge
Go up against Blugold Alumni with UWEC Trivia and minigames! A virtual competition will take place on October 1st, so make sure you register your team before noon on that day. The team with the most points wins! There will also be a Medallion Hunt taking place throughout Homecoming Week with a clue released every day on the UAC Instagram. Get sleuthing and find the GOLD!
Enjoy a Show
Although we don’t have a football game or parade happening this year, we still have entertainment! A Homecoming Concert will take place virtually on October 2nd at 7PM. To get the viewing link, you’ll need to sign up HERE by 5 p.m. on October 2nd.
You can also plan your own activity like a movie marathon with your friends at a safe distance. Use Netflix Party to safely enjoy a film with your pals. It’s a free Chrome extension you can easily download to play a Netflix at the same time for your whole gang while also providing a chat room to discuss the movie! Grease (1978) is a classic homecoming film ;)
