The most exciting thing to look forward to in the fall is decorating your new home! We know the dorms are a bit small, but we’ve found a collection of tips and instructions on how to renovate to your own lifestyle with simple DIY projects to decorate and organize your space. Get inspired!

Storage

Storage and organization is the first priority in such a small space, so to combat that you can purchase cheap bins and baskets to hide your clutter and even decorate them to act like decor. A two in one deal! A clean space is a happy space. :)

Comfort

Another tip to make your home extra cozy is to add small accent pillows and throw blankets. Blankets can conceal furniture that doesn’t necessarily fit your aesthetic and add texture as well. Plus extra bedding is great for movie nights or a study sesh when not in your bed.

Wall Space

Empty walls are the mood killer of a room, unless you’re very minimalistic which is great! Otherwise spice up your walls with a DIY collage made with affordable Amazon posters or printed pictures from Pinterest. Just choose the prints that fit your vibe and post the up with command strips or Blu tack. These videos give an easy step-by-step guide on different variations. Be creative and choose a color scheme to fit your space. Just go crazy! No more Blank Space, Baby.

Create

If you’re willing to put in a little more work, try some intermediate DIYs with just a hot glue gun or maybe spray paint. Follow this video tutorial to make a faux plant because we all know it’s hard to keep the real ones alive.. Geometric shapes made of wooden dowels are a more modern option.

Theme and Style

Sometimes it’s fun to pick a theme or specific vibe for your room, and may be easier to decide on decorative pieces and colors. This video incorporates 70s style and color in a DIY wall tapestry and vinyl decals with no destruction to your dorm walls. Another pro tip is to add reed diffusers to give a fresh scent to your space without the use of candles because FIRE IS DANGEROUS.

Cheap

Ballin’ on a budget is easy to do with a Dollar Store in town. Painting your own vases and adding fake foliage is a simple upgrade and adds life and color. You can also follow this tutorial to create a bedside shelf from supplies all available at a minimal cost.

Hopefully you found some inspiration with this guide to dorm decor and maybe even felt a little excitement to make the move in fall. See you soon, Blugolds, and enjoy the rest of your summer!
